How can running internal workshops on Body Language improve communication, retention and sales keep your employees motivated and engaged?

I’ve conducted numerous workshops for companies, focusing on building resilience and enhancing communication skills in the workplace, which has consistently revealed positive outcomes for both employees and managers across all functional areas of the business.

The feedback is consistent, gained over 1000+ hours of facilitating these workshops, with Large, medium and small companies. All reported improved confidence, resilience, and a deeper understanding of their colleagues, customers, and senior management. This demonstrates the need to run more workshops like these in the workplace.

Body language, a form of non-verbal communication, plays a crucial role in conveying messages that go way beyond spoken words. Psychology Today describes it as a ’silent orchestra,’ where individuals continually give clues about their thoughts and feelings through body movements, facial expressions, vocal tone, volume and other signals.

While research findings vary on the percentage of communication that is non-verbal, it is widely acknowledged that non-verbal communication (facial expressions, eye contact, gestures, posture, colour, spatial awareness (proxemics) and movement) significantly influences how others perceive us.

Mastering body language is especially vital in the workplace, as highlighted in Forbes’ article, “The Power of Body Language in the Workplace” by Raazi Inman Forbes Body Language. Communication in the workplace is critical. Not only do you need to pay attention to what you say verbally, but it’s also important to consider the messages you’re sending to others through your body language.

Body language can be used to support or invalidate certain assumptions. This is especially important in the workplace because perception can become a reality. For example, if colleagues perceive you as not adding value because your body language or tone implies, you’re indifferent to your role, they might look for behaviours to support those inferences. Being aware of body language do’s and don’ts can help you to be seen in a more favourable light.
